Holly  MSN, PMHNP-BC

Danielle Dunyo

Holly, MSN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner trained to provide psychiatric care for children and adults. A Maryland native, she began her professional career in the public health field. Her passion for empowering people to achieve their best health led to a variety of positions: In Ghana, West Africa, she helped coordinate several maternal/child health projects. As Director of the YWCA Mentor Mother Program in Marion, Indiana, she led an initiative that supported teen moms in their diverse roles. In Northeast Ohio, Holly served as Director of the Region VI Sickle Cell Program, where she provided outreach education and newborn screen counseling for families affected by sickle cell disease. During that time, she was invited to advise the U.S. Congress on implementation of the Sickle Cell Treatment Act.

After relocating to St. Louis, Missouri, Holly chose to pursue her MSN / CNL studies at St. Louis University School of Nursing. During her decade of labor/delivery and NICU nursing, she served on the faculty of Chamberlain University and as a Clinical Instructor for Goldfarb School of Nursing. Through the World Pediatric Project, she volunteered to advise an NICU nursing staff in St. John, Antigua.

A period of personal reflection helped her identify a compelling common thread throughout her professional practice: a deep interest in how people navigate mental health challenges and how this impacts every area of their lives. This led her to pursue her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner studies at Duke University. After graduation, she practiced geriatric psychiatry in skilled nursing facilities and is now honored to be part of the St. Charles Psychiatric Associates team.

As a mental health provider, Holly seeks to create a safe and empathetic space for people of all ages to navigate depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma recovery, psychosis, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders — and help individuals understand how medication, psychotherapy, nutrition, and exercise can be effective tools for healing. Special interests include reproductive psychiatry, issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as the intersection of faith and psychiatry. She believes that building trust and understanding is critical as she seeks to empower people in their healing journeys.

In her free time, Holly enjoys spending time with her family, hiking with her adventurous Aussie, Levi, and rejuvenating old furniture. Enjoying the beauty of nature is one of her favorite ways to recharge.
